Haryana allocates Rs.1.49 crore for flood relief measures

Chandigarh: Haryana's Financial Commissioner for Revenue and Disaster Management, Dr. Sumita Misra, today said that the state government has allocated Rs. 1.49 crore to Deputy Commissioners of the state and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to undertake flood relief measures ahead of the monsoon season.


Dr. Sumita Misra, informed that out of the total amount, Rs. 99 lakh has been released to Deputy Commissioners for flood preparedness in rural areas. These funds will be used for dewatering, food and clothing distribution, the supply of fodder etc. The aim is to address monsoon-related issues proactively and prevent emergencies before they occur.


Additionally, Rs. 50 lakh has been allocated to the Public Health Engineering Department to tackle waterlogging and manage the challenges of heavy rainfall in urban areas. This funding will enable the department to implement effective drainage solutions and protect cities from potential flooding, she added.
