Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Wednesday directed officials to ensure that the benefits of all state horticulture schemes reach every eligible farmer in a transparent and timely manner.
Chairing a review meeting of the Horticulture Department, the minister reviewed the progress of various projects aimed at promoting horticulture and increasing farmers' income under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
During the meeting, Additional Secretary Latif Ahmed and Horticulture Director Manish Kumar briefed the minister on the department's administrative functioning, budget, farmer-centric subsidy schemes, and the status of ongoing development projects.
Bhagat instructed officials to strengthen direct outreach with farmers at the grassroots level to ensure they are well informed about government schemes and can avail themselves of the available benefits.
Reiterating the government's commitment to farmers' welfare, the minister said promoting horticulture remains a key priority to make farming more profitable and enhance rural incomes.
