Chandigarh– The Punjab government, led by Bhagwant Mann, has reconstituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee to address financial concerns of state employees and pensioners, particularly issues related to Pay Commission arrears and Dearness Allowance/Relief (DA/DR).
The newly formed committee will be chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, with Aman Arora and Dr. Baljit Kaur serving as members. The committee’s primary mandate is to assess the financial burden on the state exchequer due to arrears arising from revised pay and pension scales for the period from January 1, 2016, to June 30, 2021. It will also examine disparities between benefits provided to Punjab employees and those extended to Central government employees, as well as review pay scales of employees recruited under the 7th Central Pay Commission pattern.
Additionally, the panel will consider the implications of a court ruling in the case of Dr. Saurabh Sharma. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Council of Ministers for further action.
