SHIMLA: As part of the state government’s ongoing anti-chitta campaign, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tiwari today has called upon students, youth, parents and local communities to actively join the fight against drug abuse.

Addressing the annual function of DAV Senior Secondary Public School as the Chief Guest, he emphasised that making Himachal Pradesh drug-free requires collective efforts of the police, educational institutions, families and society at large.

He urged students to stay away from drugs and embrace sports and highlighted the ‘Khelo Himachal- Chitta Mukt Himachal’ initiative, under which kabaddi, cricket and volleyball competitions will be organized at block, district and state levels to channelize youth energy towards constructive activities.

He also encouraged students to consider the police their friend and guide and seek assistance whenever required. Highlighting the achievements of ERSS-112, he said that Himachal Pradesh had improved its national performance ranking from 34th to first place. He urged every student to spread awareness about the emergency helpline among at least five other people.

The DGP also called upon parents, teachers and panchayats to remain vigilant and work collectively to protect the younger generation from drug abuse. On the occasion, he administered a pledge to students to stay away from drugs, follow the law and contribute towards the vision of a Chitta Mukt Himachal.
