World Bank Mission Reviews Continuous Pressurized Water Supply Project in Shimla

Shimla: A high-level delegation from the World Bank is on a visit to Shimla to review the progress of the Continuous Pressurized Water Supply Project, being implemented under a Performance-Based Contract to ensure 24x7 water supply to the city.
 
 
 
In the first phase of the visit, the World Bank team inspected the newly constructed Customer Facilitation Center (CFC) at Sanjauli, accompanied by officials from Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) and SUEZ. The team was briefed on the various services available to consumers, including the grievance redressal system, billing facilities, and the rapid response mechanism developed under the project.
 
 
Under the leadership of Project Director Ms. Manmeet Kaur, the SUEZ team presented a detailed demonstration on the digital grievance handling system, call center services, and customer data management processes. Senior officials from SJPNL, including the General Manager (GM), Assistant General Manager (AGM), and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), were also present during the inspection.
 
 
The World Bank delegation appreciated the functioning of the Sanjauli CFC, stating that such initiatives will significantly enhance the overall water service experience for the residents of Shimla. To promote environmental awareness, the visiting members of the delegation also planted medicinal and aromatic plants within the premises of the Sanjauli center.
 
 
In the second phase of the visit, the delegation reached Mashobra to inspect the ongoing pipeline laying work being executed by SUEZ. The inspection was attended by SJPNL officials, engineering staff associated with the project, and local Municipal Councillor Mrs. Vishakha Modi.
 
 
The World Bank team closely examined the pipeline laying techniques, quality of materials, adherence to safety standards, and the measures taken for ensuring worker safety.
 
 
The team expressed satisfaction over the stringent safety protocols being followed at the construction site, the active public engagement processes, and the smooth execution strategies adopted to ensure timely completion of the project.
