CHANDIGARH: The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (TCT) organised a blood donation camp on 28th June 2025 in collaboration with Bal Niketan, Sector 2, Panchkula. It was the 315th blood donation camp of TCT.
The camp was inaugurated by Shri Himmat Singh, Chairman, Haryana Staff Selection Commission. Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust briefed him about thalassaemia, history of the TCT and sought his cooperation in the elimination of the Thalassaemia in Haryana state by ordering compulsory HPCL. Shri Himmat Singh assured his full cooperation and support for the cause of Thalassaemia. He also motivated the blood donors and presented gifts to them.
The camp was organised for thalassaemia patients who need life long blood transfusions after 15-20 days to keep optimum level of hemoglobin for survival and other needy patients. Hon’ble 34 voluntary blood donors donated blood in this camp.
The team from Department of Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGIMER under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Vipin Khaushal, Medical Superintendent PGIMER received 8 donors consent for organ donation in the camp.
TCT Committee members Sh. AP Singh, Vice President; Dr. Viney Sood, Finance Secretary; Sh. Amit Sood, Joint Secretary, Sh. ML Gandhi, Executive Member and Sh. KK Ahuja distributed gifts and blessed the blood donors. Parents of thalassaemic patients also participated in this blood donation camp.
Prof(Dr) Rati Ram Sharma, Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER and Mr. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary TCT thanked the staff of Blood Bank, TCT and ROTTO. They also thanked Bal Niketan, Panchkula and all voluntary blood donors for participating in the camp.
