Kurukshetra: A Two-day National Conclave 2025 on "Transformation in Teacher Education Towards Viksit Bharat 2047" was inaugurated on 28th April in Kurukshetra university. The event is jointly organised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the Haryana State Higher Education Council (HSHEC), and Kurukshetra University.
While speaking as the Chief Guest Haryana Governor and KU Chancellor Hon'ble Bandaru Dattatraya said that Haryana Youth should focus on creating jobs and they should not be just job seekers. Hon'ble Governor emphasized that National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will play a pivotal role in bringing about change in the country by igniting a new consciousness and revolution, making India a developed nation by 2047. Hon'ble Governor Dattatraya highlighted that a teacher is not just a transmitter of knowledge but also a builder of character.
Teachers shape the future of students, guide their thoughts, and instill a spirit of innovation and service. Hon'ble Governor commended the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in formulating the NEP 2020, which aims to make education inclusive, multi-disciplinary, high-quality, and globally competitive.
NCTE Chairperson Prof. Pankaj Arora said that desired learning outcomes can be achieved through innovation, collaboration, & dedication. Prof. Pankaj Arora explained that the third National Conference was organized by NCTE at Kurukshetra University to align with the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047 and emphasized the importance of producing high-quality teachers in the changing educational landscape and the need for prompt nationwide implementation of NEP 2020.
Haryana State Higher Education Council Chairperson, Prof. Kailash Chander Sharma outlined the goals of NEP 2020 to develop self-reliant, creative, and rational youth with human values and skills and underscored the significance of teacher preparation under the ITEP 4-year programme to unlock new teaching career paths bridging skills.
Kurukshetra University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva welcomed the dignitaries and noted that India, with its youth population of 370 million between the ages of 15-39, holds immense potential. Prof Sachdeva explained how NEP addresses issues like unemployment, skill shortages, and lack of character building. Prof Sachdeva also shared the university’s achievements, including the implementation of NEP provisions in UG and PG programs, and its recognition with an A++ grade by NAAC. Member Secretary NCTE, Abhilasha Jha Mishra gave a formal vote of thanks.
Deputy Director, Public Relations, Dr Jimmy Sharma informed that the conclave began with paying a tribute to the architect of NEP 2020, Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, followed by a one-minute silence in his honour. The conference also witnessed participation from various prominent personalities, including Prof. C.K. Saluja, Prof. Sudesh Chhikara, Dr Virender Pal, and many dignitaries.
