Disciplined mind brings happiness: Gita Manishi Gyananand

Kurukshetra: University Institute of Engineering & Technology UIET Kurukshetra University organised one day workshop on "Srimad Bhagavad Gita: Science, Modern Education & Life Management" on 9 April 2025. The Chief Guest and the Keynote Speaker of this workshop, Gita Manishi Swami Shri Gyananand Ji said that the essence of the holistic education and life management is enshrined in the Gita.


In the National Education Policy 2020, the Srimad Bhagavad Gita has been included in the curriculum in accordance with the Indian knowledge tradition to strengthen children mentally. Srimad Bhagavad Gita is not only a religious text but it also provides solutions to all the problems of human life. Swami Gyananand Maharaj said that the Gita is not only the pride of India but the scripture is for the humanity of the whole world.


The Gita develops the hidden abilities in a person, concentrates the mind and teaches time management in life. Chief Patron of the workshop, Kurukshetra University, Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva said that Pujya Swami's heavenly words on the profound subject touched the hearts and also gave a new direction to thinking. Prof. Sachdeva said that there is a need to take the divine knowledge of the Gita to every level of education through research, curriculum and dialogues so that the next generation is enriched spiritually along with technology.


Prof Sachdeva added that Kurukshetra University will soon start BA Gita Studies Programme and in future it will also be taken to PG and PhD levels. He said that KU has also signed an MoU with Gita Gyan Sansthanam in accordance with the Indian knowledge tradition through value added courses. An open house discussion session was organised during the workshop in which numerous students showed keen participation and this session proved highly insightful and helpful.


While observing the exhibition organized by the UIET students in the Crush Hall during this one-day workshop, Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj said that this exhibition is a wonderful confluence of spirituality and science. Workshop Patron and UIET Director Prof. Sunil Dhingra welcomed all the dignitaries and elucidated on the outline of the workshop. Workshop Coordinator Dr. Rajesh Agnihotri presented formal vote of thanks and Dr. Urmila moderated the workshop.
