FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Bhog ceremony and final prayers for Indian Army’s brave soldier, Martyr Harminder Singh, who sacrificed his life in Kulgam district of Srinagar, were held today at his native village Baddinpur. On behalf of the Punjab Government, Cabinet Minister for Security Services Welfare, Freedom Fighters, Mohinder Bhagat, attended the ceremony to pay floral tributes.
Paying homage, Minister Bhagat saluted the bravery of the 28-year-old martyr and said that the Punjab Government not only bows before the supreme sacrifice of martyrs but also remains committed to supporting their families.
He announced that the government has sanctioned One crore financial aid for the martyr’s family. As part of this, a cheque of Six lakh was handed over today, while the remaining Ninty Four lakh will be released soon after completion of formalities. He further declared that the martyr’s brother would be given a government job.
Minister Bhagat said that the sacrifice of Martyr Harminder Singh has brought pride not only to his parents and villagers but also to the entire Punjab and the nation.
Expressing deep sympathy with the martyr’s family he also announced that a special memorial would be constructed in the village to honor the martyr’s everlasting memory.
On this occasion, Amloh MLA Gurinder Singh Gary Barring expressed gratitude to the gathering on behalf of the family and assured them of all possible support
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind (IAS), SSP Shubham Aggarwal (IPS), District Planning Committee Chairman Ajay Singh Libra, District Defence Services Welfare Officer Baljinder Singh Virk, Municipal Council Mandi Gobindgarh President Harpreet Singh Prince, along with leaders of various political parties, administrative, police and army officials, and a large number of people from nearby villages and towns also paid tributes.
