There should be no shortage in the expansion of health facilities : CM Shri Chouhan

BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that no shortage should be left in expansion of health facilities and availability of medicines in the state. People should get better facilities in hospitals and hospitals should be patient friendly. Every effort should be made to bring about a radical change in the systems. Special care should be taken of cleanliness in hospitals. Efforts should also be made to ensure that the standard of government hospitals is better than that of private hospitals. He also stressed on obtaining people’s cooperation for Mission Sehat. In the meeting, it was decided to organise a programme in this regard on August 8. CM Shri Chouhan said that this programme should be given wide publicity.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was reviewing the preparations for Kayakalp Award and Mission Sehat programme at the residence office today. Health Minister Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri Mohammad Suleman and officials were present.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that there should be no shortage in the preparations for the programme. Through wide publicity, the public should be made aware about what facilities are being provided to them in district hospitals, civil hospitals and primary health centres. He directed for infrastructure development of hospitals and repair of buildings. He said that the facility of CT scan is available to the patients in 48 district hospitals of the state. CT scan machines are proposed to be installed in three hospitals.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that cancer treatment would be provided in district hospitals as well as in civil hospitals. In the meeting, information was given regarding the timing of OPD from 9 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 6 pm for the convenience of the patients. Deliberations were held on setting up of Help Centres in the hospitals. It was informed that a budget of Rs 434 crore has been earmarked for the works related to Mission Sehat. District wise tenders have been done for infrastructure development and maintenance of buildings. The amount has also been given to the in-charge of the institution. An amount of about Rs 146 crore will be spent on the repair works. An amount of Rs 73 crore will be spent to boost up the facilities for radiological testing. Similarly, equipments worth Rs 119 crore will be purchased for the pathology testing facilities. An amount of Rs 35 crore will be spent for providing furniture and bed facilities. 20 thousand new beds will be purchased for hospitals. Rs 9 crore will be spent on bed-sheets, mattresses and linen material. 530 types of life saving essential medicines will be delivered to the hospitals. Number of dialysis machines will also be increased with blood banks and blood storage facilities. At present 194 dialysis machines are available, 102 new ones will be purchased. Rs 8 crore will be spent on this.
