CHANDIGARH: PGGCG-42, College Chandigarh organized the culmination of its 40th Annual Athletic Meet. College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal inaugurated this meet. Arjun Awardee (Rowing) Sardar Jagjit Singh Jalla, SP, Mohali was present as the chief guest on this occasion. Ms. Kamla Cheema Dalal, BHIM Awardee (Hockey) was present as the guest of honour. Principal Prof. Dr. Nisha Aggarwal welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted how the college has been able to empower girl students under the aegis of the Director of Higher Education and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Physical Education.
He read out the annual report of the college and highlighted the achievements of the students and stressed the importance of never giving up and moving forward with sportsmanship, stamina, speed, strength, skill and lively enthusiasm.
The chief guest addressed the girl students and inspired them towards fitness and sports and told how it benefits the society. She shared her experiences with the girl students and inspired them to work hard to achieve their goals not only as athletes but also as capable sports coaches to help the country progress. The spectacular display of march past, aerobics, yoga and giddha skills by the girl students enthralled the guests, faculty members and girl students of the college.
In total there were 28 events in which different types of competitions were held. The Chief Guest gave away prizes to all the winning participants in the closing ceremony and appreciated the college management and girl students for their excellent performance and diligent efforts. Students from various faculties participated in the march past. Gunjan-B.P.Ed.-I was declared the best athlete of the college for the current session. The march past team of the Science Group was adjudged the best unit of the programme.
