Punjab Governor felicitates NSS and NCC Cadets at Punjab Raj Bhavan

CHANDIGARH:  The NSS and NCC Cadets of Punjab and Chandigarh who participated in the National Level Republic Day Parade-2023 at Kartaya Path in New Delhi, were felicitated by the Governor Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Banwarilal Purohit in a felicitation programme held at Punjab Raj Bhavan, here today.

 

      The Governor appreciated the performance of the Cadets who made a podium finish by securing the third position in the all India ranking. The contingent won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in various categories and events besides trophies in a host of individual and team events.

     

      Congratulating the young cadets on their spectacular performance, Shri Purohit said that they have made their State and City proud by their achievement.

 

      Addressing the NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers, the Governor asked them to uphold their pledge to be the disciplined and responsible citizens of India and undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for fellow beings.

 

      Stressing on the need to rid the Country of corruption, the Governor exhorted the cadets to live by Gandhi ji’s mantra of Simple Living and High Thinking. He impressed upon them to lead a disciplined life of honesty and integrity.

 

      The Governor also highlighted the importance of time management in the life of a successful person and called upon the students to unflinchingly focus on their goals.

 

The cadets paid rapt attention to the Governors advice, felt motivated by the anecdotes from the life of Nobel Laureate Earnest Hemingway and former President APJ Abdul Kalam as cited by the Governor and assured to contribute positively towards growth of nation.

 

       Besides others, Maj. Gen. K.V. Kumar, ADG, NCC Directorate PHHP&C, Mrs Harwinder Kaur, Regional Director NSS, Mrs Jaspreet Talwar, Secretary Higher Education, Punjab, Mr Amar Pal Singh,  Director Higher Education were present on the occasion.
