NIPER-Foundation Day-2024 celebrates its Foundation Day

S.A.S. Nagar: The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar, an Institute of National Importance, enacted by the Act of Parliament (NIPER Act 1998) under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals Govt. of India celebrated its Foundation Day today i.e. on 15.02.2024 (Thursday).


Prof. Dulal Panda the Director, NIPER welcomed the Chief Guest, Shri Sudarshan Jain, Secretary-General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), Senior Advisor, APAX Partners, the Guest of Honour, Prof. YK Gupta, President, AIIMS, Jammu, and Dr. Girish Sahni, Chairman BOG NIPER, invitees and audience.

Prof. Panda presented the Annual Report of the institute highlighting various achievements in the area of education, research publications (with highest Impact Factor as 16.6 and average as 5.06), placements, patents, awards, MoUs signed, International / National Conferences organized, Outreach activities conducted, Lectures organized, Soft skill training programme organized etc.

He mentioned that the Institute is contributing towards the generation of knowledge and towards the economy of the country.

Dr. Girish Sahni, the Chairman, BOG, NIPER told the students to burn the flame of innovation and help the mankind. It was followed by the talk by the Guest of Honour Prof. YK Gupta. Prof Gupta told that today the world is interested in reproducibility factor. NIPER should identify the rare diseases and APIs to be cracked. He told that the students of NIPER should be the Job providers not the job seekers.

It was followed by the foundation day lecture by the Chief Guest Shri Sudarshan Jain on “Indian Pharmaceutical Industry”. In his talk, he mentioned that Pharmaceutical Industry of India is not only an asset for the country but to the world and India is going to be the hub of talent around the world.


He further described the contribution of Indian Industry to the world. He said there is a shift from the volume to value in pharma sector.

Further, there were different competitions held during the Foundation Day celebrations which include General Science Quiz and Oration competition organized by Internal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment (ICCSH). The winners of different competitions held for Foundation Day celebrations and during the past year were awarded with the prizes.

The persons who are superannuating from the service during 2023-24 were also felicitated.

Neha Shoree Memorial AIDCOC (All India Drug Control Officers’ Confederation)-NIPER Best Performance award was given to Ms. Avneet Kaur Arora of the Dept. of Pharmacology and Toxicology (CGPA 9.90) while Smt. Krishna Gulati Memorial Award, was given to Ms. Akanksha Keshri of the Dept. of Pharmaceutical Technology Process Chemistry (CGPA 9.97). There were Best employee awards also in the categories of Best Technical Support given to Mr. Vikas Grover, Technical Supervisor Grade-II and Best Administrative Support given to Ms. Promila Thakur, Junior Hindi Translator.

Around 350 faculty, staff, students and invited guests from various institutes were present during the function. The function culminated with the vote of thanks by Prof. Arvind Bansal, the Dean, NIPER. The Foundation Day celebrations were concluded successfully.
