Chandigarh: Health Department of Chandigarh inaugurated the fifth edition of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI 5.0) today, marking a significant stride towards strengthening immunization efforts.

With a strong commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the community, IMI 5.0 aims to target children aged 0-5 years and pregnant women, offering them essential vaccinations to bolster immunity against preventable diseases. The campaign's inaugural event was graced by the presence of District Immunization Officer (DIO), Medical Superintendent (MS), Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS), and other dignitaries.

During the ceremony, Director Health Services, Dr. Suman Singh, urged parents and guardians to ensure their children receive the recommended vaccinations as outlined in the National Immunization Schedule. In a heartwarming gesture, gift hampers were distributed to beneficiaries, symbolizing the shared commitment to a healthier future for the city's residents.

In line with the campaign's objectives, all immunization data was meticulously recorded and uploaded onto the Universal Immunization Web Portal (UWIN), ensuring seamless tracking and monitoring of vaccination progress.

The IMI 5.0 campaign is set to span over six days, from August 7 to August 12, 2023. Throughout this period, all government health facilities in Chandigarh will conduct dedicated vaccination sessions, reaching out to beneficiaries who may have missed previous doses of essential vaccines. Dr. Suman Singh, along with the diligent oversight of DIO, will be closely monitoring the campaign's progress to ensure its success.

The Health Department of UT Chandigarh extends its heartfelt gratitude to the city's residents for their active participation and support in the IMI 5.0 immunization campaign. By joining hands, the community is taking a vital step towards creating a healthier and disease-resistant society.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital Sector 16 (GMSH 16), witnessed the participation of Director Health Services, Dr. Suman Singh, along with esteemed representatives from partner agencies WHO and JSI.
