Haryana lit up to host Khelo India Youth Games-2021

Chandigarh: As the final countdown for the much-awaited Khelo India Youth Games-2021 begins concerted efforts are being made by the Haryana Government to make this grand event memorable for both the participants and spectators.

        Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Haryana and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal while chairing a review meeting with stakeholders and officers concerned said that Khelo India Youth Games-2021 will be special for Haryana in many ways. Therefore adequate arrangements for providing the required facilities to both the participants and spectators should be ensured.  

        “Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. Anurag Thakur, Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal along with several dignitaries of the State and Centre governments would attend the launching ceremony of this grand event on May 7, while the opening ceremony will be held on June 4, 2022. Over 8,000 athletes will participate in this sports festival”, informed Dr. Amit Agrawal.

        Dr. Agrawal said that on May 7, a mascot and logo of Khelo India Youth Games would be launched at Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula.

        “A detailed timeline of programme and event highlights should be prepared. A graffiti wall along with a selfie point will be set up at the venues and renowned tourist destinations of the cities where these games are scheduled to be organized so that the spectators can take back wonderful memories of the event,” directed Dr. Amit Agrawal.

        He said that special invitations have been sent to renowned folk artists to perform in every sports event scheduled to be held from June 4 to June 13, 2022. These folk artists will mirror the culture of Haryana. Besides this, a dedicated vehicle displaying a torch and mascot will tour the state to promote Khelo India Youth Games-2021.

        Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister said that through various awareness programmes every stakeholder should ensure maximum participation of the school, college and university students in this grand event.

        The 'Khelo India Youth Games-2021', will be jointly organized by the State Government and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

        As many as 25 sports events will be organized in this grand event, including five traditional games like Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Malkhamb and Yogasana. These sports events will be organized at five venues namely Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi.

        Director Sports, Department, Sh. Pankaj Nain, Joint Director (Admn.), Information, Public Relations and Languages, Haryana, Sh. Aman Kumar and other officials also remained present. Secretary, The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sh. Rohit Bhardwaj also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
