Chandigarh: In an embarrassment to AAP, BJP's Kuljeet Singh Sandhu has been elected as senior deputy mayor of Chandigarh. He got 19 votes out of total 36 polled votes while one 1 vote was declared invalid.
Sandhu beat AAP & Congress candidate Gurpreet Singh Gabi, who secured 16 votes. Notably, SAD's only councillor Hardeep Singh voted for BJP.
Now, the voting for the election of deputy mayor is going on where BJP's Rajinder Sharma is contesting against AAP and Congress candidate Nirmala Devi.
