Kurukshetra: On 04.10.2022, Vice Chancellor Kurukshetra University, Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva had inaugurated the Assistive Technology Lab for Visual Impaired in the JawaharLal Nehru Libraryof KU.
He said that with the implementation of this technology, visual impaired students of KU can use the printed books like other students and they can read all kinds of study materials i.e. books, magazines, newspapers and text matters without any difficulty. These students can read and listen to texts with the help of Assistive technology. This technology can cover the speech into Braille language so that students can read as per their convenience.
On this occasion, Dr. Chetan Sharma, Librarian, JLN Library that the Lab is equipped with numerous types of technological tools i.e. Smart Reader HD, Braille Printer/Embosser, Braille Display ; Jaws Talking Software. The students were encouraged to use braille books in addition to Assistive Technology for their academic activities.
On this occasion Dr. Ram Niwas, Dr. L. K. Gaur, Dr. Vanita Dhingra, Dr. Anand, and all library staff members were presented.
