Labour Department organizes awareness camps for labour regarding various welfare schemes

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Administration The Labour Department, U.T., Chandigarh is organizing awareness camps with the cooperation of active Common Service Centers since 02.11.2022 regarding registration of unorganized workers, Building and other construction workers & industrial workers etc. During the camps general public is being made aware about various welfare schemes being run by the Chandigarh Labour Welfare Board (CLWB) and Chandigarh Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board (CBOCW Board) & how they can avail the benefit under the schemes being granted to the industrial workers who are covered under the Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965 & unorganized workers covered under the Social Security Board under Unorganized Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008.


Further, such types of camps are being organized from time to time at various locations like St. Joseph Convent School, Sector 26, Community Centre at Sunder Nagar, Satsang Bhawan, Sector-26, Krishna Auto Sales, Industrial Area Ph-I, Chandigarh wherein around 2500 people were made aware about the E-Shram cards, Ayushman card & Labour Cards & welfare schemes of the ibid boards.


In the camps, the Inspectorate staff and officials of Chandigarh Labour Welfare Board had made aware around 500 workers regarding the online procedure for availing the benefits of various welfare schemes and other benefits being provided by the ibid Boards.


During last two weeks around 145 unorganized workers were registered under E-shram portal. Further the board shall organize such type of awareness camps with the establishments in near future also.
